Army, you've done it again. Bangtan Boys fans have once again gotten behind BTS and their latest release ' Love Yourself: Tear'. In a Kpop first, BTS' latest album has become the first from an Asian group to make its way to the number one position on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Big Hit Entertainment is rejoicing in the news following the albums release on May 18 that saw 135,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending May 24, reported by Nielsen Music. Best of all, 100,000 of these sales were in traditional album sales. Wow!
The Billboard 200 chart is based on a 'multi-metric' consumption which includes traditional album sales & streams online. Though its official now, the chart itself will not be published until Wednesday this week but its a cause for celebration anyway! Industry experts have had to change their forecasted predictions for the success of the album in the US, having originally thought that the boys would be lucky enough to hit 100,000 sales, by May 24th, the same industry people had pushed that beyond 120,000. Once again BTS exceed the worlds expectations.

Watching BTS' journey over the years has been a constant form of entertainment for us here at Asian Pop Radio, in July of 2015 we were lucky enough to meet the guys in a press conference that we hosted at our Bourke Street studios (thanks to JOY 94.9), ahead of their 'Red Bullet' showcase in Melbourne. They are a lovely bunch of guys and it was apparent there that they were only going on to bigger and better things. Good luck with the rest of your promotions guys!
