I was lucky enough to have the chance to meet 1/4th of 2NE1, my all time favourite girl group on Saturday. I mean, it would’ve been more lucky if I had been able to see her while she performed, but alas, I’m merely a 5’11 girl who had to compete against 6ft fanboys with iPhones. SPOILER: I lost!
First of all, Minzy looked like a goddamn goddess. There were a lot of people for the meet and greet from 10.30pm - a lot of them. Most of her fans were waiting in line for a good 40 mins before making their way down stairs to the VIP lounge area for a super quick photo opportunity. I must say, Minzy herself was super lovely, and the staff made it super efficient and ensured everyone got through.
The red satin jumpsuit (which probably cost more than my week's pay) was perfect for the venue and the vibe of the club. She performed at Baroq House, which is located just across the road from Melbourne Central.
For the amount of people that came to see her, I feel the venue was a little on the small side. There was no elevation for her to perform on so people in the back where unable to see her in action. The set itself was only 3 songs, 2 of her solo tracks from her latest stuff and a personal favourite of mine, 2NE1's "Go Away".
Much like her outfit, her voice was flawless and was very easy to sing along with. She did come out for an encore for "I Am The Best", but the songs the DJ was playing throughout the night made it hard to get super into. For the price tag, I thought she may have performed a few more tracks as the night progressed. All in all, it was a great opportunity to see her in my hometown, I just wished there was more.
