Alternative-rock band, Cadence, have released their new single ‘Pendulum’ on 6 and today it makes its way to Asian Pop Radio's 24/7 radio stream. The last of three singles off of their eponymous, upcoming EP, ‘Pendulum’ has been released alongside a music video which was directed and produced by Basil Tan from Grand Motion Media.
‘Pendulum’ encapsulates the desperation of being caught in a cycle of “repeatedly failing at something just at the time you feel you’re about to succeed.” As the band’s frontman, Seth Chiam, explains, “From the first time we jammed the song’s arrangement, it sounded like it was swinging, so I got inspired to write about the frustrations of being constantly swung between hopefulness and hopelessness.”

Expanding on Cadence’s increasing tendency to layer their arrangements instrument by instrument,
‘Pendulum’ features intricate, rhythmic patterns of Nathan Huang’s guitar played in the song’s quiet sections, eventually building up to a soaring guitar solo by the band’s other guitarist Angus Sham.
Following the single’s launch, the Pendulum EP is set to launch on all digital platforms on 10 August 2018. Asian Pop Radio first spoke to the band in October of 2018 at the time of their debut and you can listen to the podcast below. We wish the group all the best and look forward to our next conversation with them in celebrating the release of their EP later this year. Scroll a little further and take a look at their latest MV!
