On Thursday 26 April, Melbourne Hidden Kards were excited by the presence of our favourite group K.A.R.D performing in Melbourne. This was evident on making my way to The Plenary (where they were performing) by tram were I was surprised at how it seemed to be so full of kpop fans.
Arriving at the venue the weather was quite cold, but the cool breeze passing by did not stop the fans from waiting early to see K.A.R.D for the first time in Melbourne. As a member of The Asian Pop Radio crew myself and another member Jhube, did our bit to welcome K.A.R.D fans by handing out lollipops to celebrate the event, which the fans enjoyed We also got a chance speak to to some of our own followers and supporters, putting faces to names which is always great.
Fans were everywhere, lining up to get their wristbands for the high touch and their photo opportunity with the K.A.R.D members. The line-up continued to grow as it got closer to the doors opening, and it was great to share that time with other fans, talking about our favourite members, what songs we hoped they would sing, but we were all hyped to see them with our own eyes! The doors opened and we quickly found our seats, and took a quick look around the venue, and I could see it was going to be a full house as each seat was taken and there are almost none left.
The K.A.R.D members started the show with their hit song “Rumour” follow by “Oh Nana”. The members encouraged all the fans to sing along and, and we didn’t need to be told twice and happily sang our hearts out. Then the MCs came out on stage and invited fans to play games such as they would go up on stage and bust out their dance moves and win some prizes. At the next portion the K.A.R.D members had changed their outfits and we had a feeling they were getting ready to each perform a solo.
Their solos were AMAZING!!! My screams joined in with others doing the same around me, to show our appreciation of their amazing voices. The K.A.R.D d members also performed an English cover song of Nicky Mina j& Ariana Grande’s “Side to Side”, and Bruno Mars’s “24k magic”. The fans energy was amazing.
We were all out of our seats, cheering and singing, and more amazingly we can sense the group feeding off it. They looked like they were genuinely enjoying performing from us. Again back with the MC’s and another 4 of lucky fans got up on stage and got to interact with the K.A.R.D members. They won the most incredibly memorable prizes such as, take a selfie with the K.A.R.D members, and another got one of the members to record a wake up call on their phone. The luckiest fan got to hold hands with J.seph as he confess his love for her. I stared in shock with my mouth open holding my breath and me and a hundred other fans there were instantly jealous!! Why wasn’t it me???
The next break was a Q&A session with the K.A.R.D members, and we got to know each of the members a little better, as they opened up on what made them become an artist, and what they love the most about being a Kpop idol and being in the music industry. At the final portion of the show the K.A.R.D members saved their best songs for last “Don’t Recall” and “Hola Hola” and we all agreed it was a great way to finish up the show. This last set turned the seating venue to a mosh pit as it got all the fans in the whole venue on their feet and even moved us closer to the stage and try to interact with them.
On the way out I saw fans leave with the biggest smiles on their faces, and heard many complements about how amazing the quality of their voices were live. I too was surprised by the strength of their vocals. I’m pretty sure no one left disappointed with the high quality of the show and would love to see K.A.R.D in Melbourne again. We at Asian Pop Radio, thank both DSP media and Fast Track Events for making this show happen and allowing us to attend. We wish the K.A.R.D members have a successful future ahead of them and we would definitely love to see them in Melbourne again soon!
