For a bit of fun, from this week, each week, the crew who work together on Asian Pop Radio are going to share with you some of the YouTube videos that have taken our fancy, shocked us or that we have just plain enjoyed. We would also love to include your submissions along side ours so if you wish to share vids that you have loved over the last week, do so in the comments below. BUt keep it Asian pop music or culture related, please. lol.
Aurora's Pick: "So Special" MV - Na Haeun
Na Haeun is an 8 year old cover dance artist who recently released her own song. It's not a "debut track" as she won't be promoting in the industry. However after doing so many covers she wanted to have her own song so her parents basically said why not. She had a showcase in which she performed it live. And despite the hard choreographing hasn't been overworked by her parents and still enjoyed many other hobbies and studies for school. All the profits go to the world vision foundation. Na Haeun is not jut super cute but super talented, and I think it's great she can explore her dreams without being exploited and over worked. Her fellow kid back up dancers are also super cool.
Cassandra's Pick: When she asks you to be more like Korean Oppa.
This clip got heaps of likes and shares on my Worlds Oldest Kpop Fan Facebook page, its extremely funny!
Jay John's Pick: 218 Dance Crew, Asia's Got Talent 2017
I've been totally binge watching Asia's Got Talent clips of late, granted the series wrapped up around November but I was late to the party! So the benefit was having a huge chunk of videos to go through from right across the 2017 series. Not only was there huge talent on display but our favorite man Jay Park was one of the celebrity judges. To this video specifically, Vietnamese dance crew '218' were just kicking goals across the series and this was certainly one of my favorite moments. A great example of taking dance into the future through use of modern technology.
Paul's Pick: เธอเปลี่ยนไป - BOY PEACEMAKER
Released just hours ago, Thai pop group Boy Peacemaker have dropped this new rock ballad. Signed under GMM Grammy Music Thailand, Anuwat Sanguansakphakdee (aka Boy Peacemaker) has released four albums, won countless awards and is a favorite in today's modern Thai pop music scene. In less than 24 hours, the song has fast approached 1 million views, sitting at just under 700,000 views at time of publishing this article.
Donny's Pick: "Hometown" Ryan.
So basically the APR team have fallen for this guy hard. We started playing his music on the Jenet and Jay John show, our daily show that was running on our 24/7 radio stream across 2017 and since we started playing him I have been following him ever since. He released this track on January 26 and I think it's his best yet.
Chris' Pick: Asian Boss.
Asian Boss always share some great videos that make you think and they certainly see things from a different perspective most of the time. I think everyone that travels or anyone that lives in a metropolitan city has a view on how Chinese tourists behave, often people think that they are loud or inappropriate but umm... hello, are us Australians not the most irritating travellers, we certainly are up there when it comes to being loud and obnoxious. lol.
