For a bit of fun, each week, the crew who work together on Asian Pop Radio are going to share with you some of the YouTube videos and other news stories that have taken our fancy, shocked us or that we have just plain enjoyed from across the last 7 days. We call it our Hump Day procrastination as its meant to get you through the Wednesday hurdle, but we ourselves procrastinated and posted this weeks update on Friday.
We would love to include your submissions alongside ours own so if you wish to share videos that you have loved over the last week, do so in the comments below. But keep it Asian pop music or culture related ;)
Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card
Zen (APR Indo Pop Reporter)
I know I’m usually all about Indo-pop, but I’m currently addicted to the opening song of the new Anime: Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card! As a Cardcaptor Sakura fan, I kept waiting for this song to be released after they released the trailer for the new season of the anime.
The above YouTube clip is an English cover version of it by my most favorite anime cover singer, AmaLee. To be honest, the original version sounds better, but it’s not available in YouTube. So if you are a die-hard Anime fan you must hear this fab song and start falling in love with Cardcaptor Sakura too . You won't regret it!
Child wows Chinese TV audience with Karen Mok classic
Sung (APR Contributor)
We all love when a child steps on stage and blows us away with their vocal skills. Sometimes its hard to believe that young kids can be so talented and have such confidence so early in their little lives. This clip is no exception to that rule.
In this video a child on a television talent show sings a song by pop diva Karen Mok, to his mother who has the great challenge at holding back the tears whilst listening to her son perform. Although the clip was added a year ago, I came across it recently and just love it so much I have found myself watching it over and over again. Here are the lyrics for those that are keen to know:
When you are old
When you are old and gray hair.
And full of sleep.
When you are old and unable to walk .
And nodding by the fire, recall your youth.
How many loved your moments of glad grace.
And loved your beauty with love false or true.
But one man loved your pilgrim soul in you.
And loved the sorrows of your changing face.
When I'm old and eyebrows lowered.
When I'm old and eyebrows lowered.
The hazy light shining fast.
The Winds blow across,Send your message.
This is a song in my heart.
When I am old,I really hope.
Here is a song, sing for you.

Erica Lin and her easy to learn exercise techniques
Jhube (APR Operations Manager)
This week I have been keeping a keen eye on YouTuber Erica Lin makes everything easy. The titles are totally click-bait and they trick you into thinking "I can do this in 5 minutes" but when you watch the video, you just get proper education on not only how to dance, but exercising techniques that are effective as well.
I'm going to share a second video today from performer AJ Rafael who has been pumping out videos FAST and they're all quality covers of hit songs old and new. If you haven't given AJ the time of day previously, now's a good time to start don't you think?
Classical Musicians react to Big Bang's 'Lies' and 'Haru Haru'
Jay John (Presenter and APR CEO)
Let me be honest, I am not one for a reaction video. I find the idea of watching other people talk about things that they are watching.. just really odd. But perhaps that's just because I have been in radio for a long time and I usually get to dictate what people hear and can talk about whatever the heck I want. But in this circumstance I found it an interesting experience to watch this lot of classical musicians react to Big Bang' s two early hits 'Lies' and 'Haru Haru'.
It was interesting for me because Lie's is probably one of the earliest Kpop songs I ever experienced back in the naughties when I first got in to Kpop. I have watched it hundreds of times and its funny to see how these folk were seeing it for the first time. They picked up on a few things that I had not before! Enjoy.
