5. 'She’s Gone'
G-Dragon is often known for elaborate music videos and concert performances, but “She’s Gone”- part of his 2009 album “Heartbreaker” - stands out from the rest. Before releasing the just-as-thrilling “Coup D’etat”, “She’s Gone” sent chills up fans spines with the the slowly building chord progressions and tale of a jealous lover falling into madness. The music video was released as part of a concert tour, with some parts acted out on stage, and others projected onto screens. The combination was innovative and made for a very immersive and creepy storyline. Showcasing G-Dragon’s creativity, this song comes in at number five on our list.
4. 'Untitled, 2014'
In comparison to the other songs on this list, “Untitled, 2014” showcases a more sentimental and vulnerable side to the singer. Performing as Kwon Jiyong rather than under his normal stage name, this song is about regretting having hurt someone you loved. The soft piano combines beautifully with Jiyong’s voice as it lifts up to mournful high notes and dips down gently in the verses. This song is a breath of fresh air amongst G-Dragon’s numerous party tracks, and with a simple music video to match the sincerity of the song, this song was bound to place in our top five.
3. 'Good Boy'
We love collaboration songs, and the energetic trap sound of Good Boy is a firm favourite! Taking to the stage with his Big Bang group member and vocalist Taeyang, the duo released this song with a lively and eye-catching routine. Using blacklights, bright neon colour schemes and a club-like video setting, the two artists showcased a modern style and fun to copy dance routine. Equally suitable for clubbing with your mates or going wild to in your room, once you hear this song, you won’t be able to stop humming along! That’s why this song takes spot number three on our countdown.
G-Dragon really let loose with this song and video! Making reference to Heath Ledger’s Joker, Pinnochio, and a number of famous actresses, GD asked listeners “why so serious”; promoting a more carefree, party attitude to life. This song is bound to make fans get their own “cray-on”, with a chorus that you just can’t sit still and listen quietly to. It’s a song that’s perfect for any form of party where you want to get people up and jumping: this song definitely deserves its spot at number two on our list!
1. 'One of a Kind'
Despite releasing this song in 2012, One of a Kind still tops our list as the best GD song out there. With a catchy bassline and clever wordplay, GD showed off his wild side with eye-catching animal prints and trendy accessories that only he could pull off. The song lyrics explain just what makes GD stand out from the rest: setting trends, breaking stereotypes and choosing his own destiny rather than letting it be dictated for him. Through this song, G-Dragon proves once and for all that he really is one of a kind, and that’s why its number one on this list.
