How mad is this?? We know you're a huge fan of works from Studio Ghibli (who isn't right!) as they have given us so many things to cheer about over the years. Well, Melbournians have something to look forward to in April this year as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) wil take on the music of the franchise and play for adoring fans, the music of Joe Hisaishi from the films of Hayao Miyazaki.
As explained on the MSO website, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will perform the extraordinary scores by Hisaishi, conducted by the composer himself, while montages from the renowned Miyazaki films including Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke , My Neighbor Totoro and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away among others, play on a huge screen at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne.

We're all familiar with some of the long standing friendships of those in the pop industry who have stuck together and worked together through thick and thin, long time friends and collaborators, Hisaishi and Miyazaki can say that they have worked together for over thirty years.
“These performances will be the perfect way to showcase Japanese culture here in Victoria. The works of Studio Ghibli and Mr Hisaishi’s iconic scores are already known and loved throughout Australia, and I know this will be a highlight of Melbourne’s cultural calendar this autumn.”
– Kazuyoshi Matsunaga, Consul-General of Japan
