Loneliness is a crowded word. The lyric from this new tune serves as the mission statement for Jasmine Sokko’s return piece of work. Her 3rd single ‘Porcupine’ evokes the spiky mammal. She often shares with the following anecdote when she performs this song. She explains why she has borrowed the title from the ‘porcupine dilemma’ -- a metaphor capturing the difficulty of human intimacy.
Just as how porcupines are impeded by their spikes to cuddle for warmth during winter, the emotional distance humans create around themselves out of self-protection and self preservation socially cripples them. She adds, “As isolated as the word ‘loneliness’ might signify, it is crammed with alphabets -- synonymous to how many people experience this form of isolation.” Released on Wednesday 2 August 2017, Jasmine Sokko’s up-tempo and infectious new song is available on Spotify, iTunes and other digital streaming platforms via 13 Orphans Records. Best yet, its just been added to Asian Pop Radio's playlist and has gained itself the 'heavy rotation' tag meaning theres a good change you're going to hear it a few times a day when you tune in to our stream.
Porcupine’ is composed and produced by the upcoming electronic music artist with additional production from music producer Fulses and vocal producer Jason Gelchen. The song is mixed by Shorya Sharma and Kwok Fang with mastering done by the latter.
