If you are a fan of Asian music, than you would be aware of the Taiwanese juggernaut that is the band Mayday. If you are not, let me introduce you to them and why you should not miss their Australian tour. Mayday were formed in 1997, and 1999 saw the current 5 members, Ashin on vocals, Monster the leader who plays lead guitar, Stone on rhythm guitar, Masa on bass and Guan You drums, come together.
Their debut album Mayday’s First Album saw them explode on the music scene with their hit Peter and Mary that won them many awards and let the music scene know they plan on hanging around. They have over 100 awards spanning their careers, from Best Group, Song of the Year for hits such as You Are Not Genuinely Happy, Noah's Ark, Tough, Tenderness and Loneliness Terminator to name a few, as well as numerous writing awards for their lyrics mostly written by Ashin.
Their current world tour is the 10th for the group and is called Life, which is taken from the song Life Co Ltd off their 2016 album History of Tomorrow. Reviews from previous concerts on the tour describe the show as having the concept of the members being out of work super heroes, whose services are once again called upon to fight evil.
The Life theme is reflected in the numerous funny clips played randomly between songs and the specially programmed light sticks given to ticket holders will create memories that will be hard to forget. The guys kicked off their tour in Taiwan 2017, and Sydney will be the last show of the gruelling tour. With only 100 pre-sale tickets left for the Hisense Arena, Melbourne show, September 18 and less than 50 for their Qudos Bank Arena Sydney show Sept 21, be sure to get your ticket now or miss out on what promises to be an amazing musical experience.
