Award winning and Platinum certified pop sensation – The Sam Willows – kick things off in 2018 with a generous serving of studio-fresh tunes through the dual release of their latest two singles ‘Papa Money’ and ‘Robot’! Keeping in line with the theme of relatable modern-day dilemmas and millennial predicaments, the foursome decided to tackle two separate topics that cover different ends of this generation’s emotional spectrum.
First off, the band addresses some heartfelt subject matter with their collective voice of optimism in ‘Robot’; where they express assurance in the slow-building number that while perfection may not necessarily be a solidified concept, everyone was made for their own specific purpose, and believing in that fact might hopefully instill some form of comfort to listeners.
Switching things up, the quartet is also releasing ‘Papa Money’, which offers a more jovial vibe. The song takes the feel-good approach, talking about people that work hard for their craft and earning their own keep. It serves the anthemic purpose of silencing naysayers and providing a worthy singalong tune for anyone that is proud of what they have accomplished on their own. On choosing to double drop their latest two singles simultaneously, founding member Benjamin Kheng adds: “Each song has its own sound and talks about two very distinctively contrasting subjects, one’s a little more light-hearted and the other shoots a little closer to the heart, but both keep within the perimeters of common issues that our generation faces. So, we thought it would be cool to give people that option and provide two sides to our music, while at the same time have that subtle interlinking web that threads both of it together.”
